Product description
90° chamfer mill — solid carbide, NaCo4, 2 flutes
Cutting diameters Ø1–12 mm · overall lengths 50–75 mm
A solid carbide chamfer mill with a NaCo4 coating and two flutes. Its 90° included angle makes it suitable for chamfering edges. It can also be used for deburring and spotting before drilling.
When selecting a size, check cutting diameter, shank diameter and overall length separately. In particular, the smallest sizes have a shank larger than the cutting section. Dimensions for the selected tool are shown on its variant card.
1. Applications
- Chamfering edges — producing chamfers on external part edges and at hole entrances.
- Deburring — removing burrs left by previous machining operations.
- Spotting — preparing an entry point before drilling, taking the geometry of the following tool into account.
Workpiece materials: steel and stainless steel. Select cutting conditions for the specific grade and material condition. The tool is intended for milling machines and machining centres.
2. Technical specifications
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Tool type | Solid shank chamfer mill |
| Tool material | VHM — solid carbide |
| Coating | NaCo4 |
| Number of flutes | 2 |
| Included angle | 90° |
| Cutting diameter | Ø1–12 mm, depending on the variant |
| Shank diameter | Ø3–12 mm, depending on the variant |
| Overall length | 50, 60 or 75 mm, depending on the variant |
| Sales unit | 1 piece |
These ranges describe the series. Available size combinations are shown in the variant selector. Not every cutting diameter is available with every length.
3. Understanding the 90° angle
90° is the full included angle of the tool. In an axial section, each side of the cone is at 45° to the axis. The included angle should not be confused with the angle of one side of the chamfer.
4. Reading the variant size
Example: 4x50Lx2Tx90°. The code elements mean:
| Code element | Meaning | Value |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | Cutting diameter | Ø4 mm |
| 50L | Overall length | 50 mm |
| 2T | Number of flutes | 2 |
| 90° | Included angle | 90° |
5. Selection and working conditions
- Match the shank to the holder. Do not choose the clamping diameter solely from the first number in the code.
- Select the diameter for the part geometry. Consider the planned chamfer, edge access and holder clearance.
- Keep overhang short. Use the shortest practical overhang for the job. Check shank cleanliness, holder condition and runout after clamping.
- Set conditions for the actual operation. Speed, feed, depth and cooling or lubrication depend on the workpiece material, chamfer size and system rigidity.
- Consider the following drill when spotting. Select the spot angle and depth to suit its geometry and drilling recommendations.
6. Order contents and questions
You receive 1 solid carbide NaCo4 chamfer mill with two flutes and a 90° included angle, in the selected size. The order quantity specifies the number of tools of that variant.
Does 2T mean two tools?
No. 2T means two flutes on one tool. The sales unit is one chamfer mill.
Does Ø2 mm mean a Ø2 mm shank?
In this size, Ø2 mm is the cutting diameter and the shank is Ø4 mm. Check both dimensions on the variant card before ordering.
Does 50L mean 50 mm cutting length?
50L means an overall tool length of 50 mm. It does not specify the length of the cutting section.
What information is needed for tool selection?
Specify the workpiece material, planned operation, chamfer or hole size, available holder and required tool reach.
