Product description
ER25 precision collet — AA grade, accuracy ≤0.008 mm
65Mn spring steel · for cylindrical shanks · select the required size
An AA-grade ER25 collet for precision clamping of cylindrical-shank tools in ER25 tool holders. Made from 65Mn spring steel, with an accuracy of ≤0.008 mm. Select the nominal size to suit the tool shank diameter.
1. Application
The collet clamps the tool inside an ER25 tool holder. It is used to hold cutting tools in CNC machines. Select the clamping size by the shank diameter, rather than the diameter of the cutting section.
- End mills with cylindrical shanks.
- Drills with cylindrical shanks.
- Reamers with cylindrical shanks.
2. Technical specification
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Clamping system | ER25 |
| Accuracy grade | AA |
| Accuracy | ≤0.008 mm |
| Material | 65Mn spring steel |
| Tool shank type | Cylindrical / round |
| Nominal diameter range of individual collets | 1–20 mm |
| Collet outside diameter | Ø26 mm |
| Collet length | 34 mm |
| Size and grade marking | On the collet face |
3. Selecting the diameter and variant
The nominal size range for individual collets in this listing is 1–20 mm. Choose the required size in the variant selector. Its card shows the nominal diameter, collet dimensions and the clamping range, where stated.
- Check that the tool holder and nut are intended for ER25 collets.
- Check the diameter of the cylindrical tool shank.
- Compare it with the nominal diameter and clamping range of the selected variant.
- Check the card for the required size before purchasing.
4. Understanding the collet dimensions
| Dimension | What it describes |
|---|---|
| Nominal diameter | The clamped shank size; depends on the selected variant. |
| Outside diameter | The outer dimension of the ER25 collet: Ø26 mm. |
| Length | The axial dimension of the ER25 collet: 34 mm. |
The collet outside diameter and the nominal shank diameter are different dimensions. The card photographs are illustrative and not to scale. Read the stated dimensions rather than measuring the proportions of the image.
Do not obtain every clamping range by subtracting a single fixed value from each nominal diameter. Check the limits stated for the selected size. If the card does not state a clamping range, use the nominal diameter; an illustrative photograph does not specify additional clamping limits.
5. Installing the collet in the nut
First seat the collet in the nut, then fit the nut to the tool holder.
- Insert the collet into the nut at an angle.
- Engage the collet with the retaining feature inside the nut.
- Press the collet into the nut.
- Fit the nut to the tool holder to clamp the tool.
6. Removing the collet
- Unscrew the nut containing the collet and remove the tool.
- Tilt the collet inside the nut to shift its position slightly.
- Press the collet sideways until it starts to release from the retaining ring.
- Rotate the nut to help release the collet completely.
7. AA grade and clamping compatibility
AA grade denotes an accuracy of ≤0.008 mm, equivalent to ≤8 µm. The collet is made from 65Mn spring steel. The size and grade marking on the face helps identify the collet when changing tools.
The collet is hardened, precision ground and dimensionally inspected.
The design provides concentric clamping and precise shank positioning. It is intended to hold the tool firmly.
| Component | What to check |
|---|---|
| Tool holder | ER25 collet system. |
| Nut | Intended for clamping ER25 collets. |
| Tool | A cylindrical shank with a diameter matching the selected collet. |
8. Frequently asked questions
Which tools can this collet hold?
End mills, drills and reamers with cylindrical shanks, in the corresponding ER tool holder.
Which diameter determines the required size?
The cylindrical tool shank diameter. Compare it with the nominal diameter and stated clamping range of the selected variant.
Is the outside diameter alone enough to select an ER25 collet?
No. The Ø26 mm outside diameter describes the outer collet dimension. Select the nominal diameter to suit the tool being clamped.
What does AA grade mean?
It is an accuracy grade of ≤0.008 mm. The size and grade marking is located on the collet face.
Does an individual collet variant mean a set?
No. An individual collet variant refers to the selected size. A variant marked as a set is a separate item; read its designation in the selector.
