MWLNR / MWLNL boring bar made of 42CrMo alloy steel

Internal turning tool for boring holes, facing, and machining through and blind holes. The black bodies in this listing are made of 42CrMo alloy steel. This is a separate family and must not be confused with gray 60Si2Mn boring bars, HSS high-speed steel or solid carbide VHM.

1. What you are buying

The price is for one boring bar in the selected variant. Each variant has its own dimensions, cutting direction and compatible insert family. The cutting insert is not included and must be purchased separately.

2. Applications and geometry

The MWLNR / MWLNL family is intended for internal turning. The stated specifications include a 95° approach angle, use for machining through holes, blind holes and end faces, and top-clamp insert fastening.

3. Key selection data

Before purchasing, check the shank diameter, overall length, minimum bore diameter, cutting direction and insert designation together. All these values are shown on the graphic for the specific variant and in the table below.

5. How to read the designation

Using the example S20R-MWLNR08: the number 20 indicates a shank diameter of 20 mm, the letter after the diameter identifies the length class, MWLNR denotes a right-hand boring bar with a 95° angle, and MWLNL denotes the left-hand version. The suffix 06 or 08 identifies the size of the compatible WNMG insert.

The model designation does not replace checking the dimensions. Two tools from the same family may have different overall lengths and different minimum bore diameters.

6. Material and construction

The material of the black body is specified for this family as 42CrMo alloy steel. The presented manufacturing process includes open-die forging and hardening at 1060°C. This information applies only to the black-body family described here.

7. Insert selection and contents supplied

Variants with the suffix 06 use WNMG 0604 inserts, while variants with the suffix 08 use WNMG 0804 inserts. The package contains one boring bar of the selected model. The cutting insert is not included.
