Product description
SCMCN-100 (obtuse) indexable holder for external turning, using CCMT inserts. Clamping: screw through the insert hole (s). The final letter R, L or N in the five-letter holder designation identifies its hand.
Shank size, holder length and insert seat size are separate parameters. Read the selected variant designation before choosing an insert; shank width alone does not determine compatibility.
Application
For machining external workpiece surfaces on a lathe. Select R or L according to the required tool orientation; N identifies the neutral design. Choose the insert geometry, cutting grade and machining parameters for the operation and workpiece material.
Entering angle of this design: 40°.

Insert seat and insert size
The holder code suffix identifies the insert seat size. The same shank size may be available with different insert sizes. Match both the insert family and its size.
| Holder code suffix | Insert family and size |
|---|---|
| 06 | CCMT 0602 |
| 09 | CCMT 09T3 |
| 12 | CCMT 1204 |
The size designation does not specify corner radius, grade or chipbreaker. Select these insert features separately while preserving compatibility with the seat geometry and dimensions.
Shank and holder length
| Shank [mm] | Overall length [mm] | Code suffix | Insert | Hand |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 × 10 | 100 | 06 | CCMT 0602 | N |
| 12 × 12 | 100 | 09 | CCMT 09T3 | N |
| 14 × 14 | 100 | 09 | CCMT 09T3 | N |
| 16 × 16 | 100 | 09 | CCMT 09T3 | N |
| 20 × 20 | 125 | 09 | CCMT 09T3 | N |
| 20 × 20 | 125 | 12 | CCMT 1204 | N |
| 25 × 25 | 150 | 09 | CCMT 09T3 | N |
| 25 × 25 | 150 | 12 | CCMT 1204 | N |
Select the current variant using the product selector. The shank must fit the lathe toolholding arrangement; check shank size and overall length separately.
Clamping and parts
Insert clamping: Screw through the insert hole (S). The insert must seat in the selected holder design. Spare-part codes refer to the specific clamping system and insert seat size.
| Code suffix | Screw | Key |
|---|---|---|
| 06 | M2.5×7 | T8 |
| 09 | M4×10 | T15 |
| 12 | M5×12 | T20 |
Reading the variant designation
| Code element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Letter designation | Holder family, geometry and clamping |
| R / L / N | Right-hand / left-hand / neutral |
| Two pairs of digits after the letters | Shank width and height [mm] |
| Letter following shank size | Holder length designation |
| Code suffix | Insert seat size |
Tool selection
Check the insert family, seat size, shank, holder length and R/L/N design together. Choosing an insert grade for steel, cast iron, aluminium or another material does not change the required fit between insert and holder seat.
FAQ
Is a cutting insert included?
The cutting insert is sold separately.
Does shank size alone identify the insert?
No. Match the CCMT family and the seat size specified by the selected holder code suffix.
What do R, L and N identify?
R identifies right-hand, L left-hand and N neutral design.
Does the holder code suffix specify the insert corner radius?
No. The holder suffix identifies seat size; select insert corner radius separately.
